Born in Cranston, Rhode Island to Rose Papa and Francesco Moretti, January 6, 1934, he was the youngest of six children.
He studied in Rome for six years and was ordained at Santa Maria Maggiore on July 10, 1960.
He first served in parishes in East Boston, Massachusetts, and Gulfport, Florida. In 1975, he became pastor of St. Joseph Church in Bradenton. In 1987 he became founding pastor of Ss. Peter & Paul the Apostles in Bradenton and served there until his death.
In 1967/68 he served as Army Chaplain in Vietnam, where he earned many medals and commendations. In July of 2010, Pope Benedict XVI bestowed upon him, the honor and title of Monsignor Protonotary Apostolic Supernumerary.
Monsignor Moretti is survived by his brother, Wilfred and eleven nieces and nephews.
Viewing will be held at Ss. Peter & Paul the Apostles Church on Thursday, July 29 from 1:00 to 4:00 P.M. and 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. with Vigil Service at 7:00 P.M.
The Funeral Mass will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, July 30.
Interment will be at St. Ann Cemetery in Rhode Island.
