Born in Des Moines, Iowa, he retired in Bradenton in 1973 from Langley AFB,VA where he was Deputy Chief of Staff of Intelligence. A veteran of WW II,Korea and Vietnam, Colonel Stover served 33 years of active duty in the USAir Force. In 1943 while on his 21st mission over Germany, he was shot down and was a P.O.W. at Stalag Luft III until liberated in 1945. He was anEagle Scout, a past Commodore of the Bradenton Yacht Club, a member of the
75th Street Elks Lodge, a member of the American Ex-POW Manasota chapter, a volunteer for Meals on Wheels, and a devoted member of the Palma Sola Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder. Colonel Stover completedan MBA at George Washington University in Washington, DC while stationed at the Pentagon.

Predeceased by wife Audrey, brother Phillip, and daughter Gail, he is survived by daughters, Diane (Mike) Lewis of Bradenton and Jane (Ron)Beasley of Morriston, FL, son, Larry Stover of Chattanooga, TN, sister, Margaret Mossberg of Indianola, IA, brother Byron (Dot) Stover of Newport Beach, CA, six grandchildren, Aaron, Courtney, Caitlin, Michael, Lisa, Michele, and two great-grandchildren, Kayla and Haylie.

Visitation 6:00-8:00 P.M. Friday, July 16, 2010 at Brown & Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory 43rd Street Chapel 604 43rd Street West, Bradenton, FL 34209.
 

Service will be Graveside 10:00 A.M. Saturday July 17, 2010 at Skyway Memorial Gardens 5200 U.S. Highway 19 North, Palmetto, FL 34221.
